Welcoming Poppy: A New Chapter for Women in Engineering
We are thrilled to announce the start of Poppy’s journey as an Engineering – Mechanical apprentice, hosted by Core Roll Surface Technologies Pty Ltd in Hastings, Victoria. Poppy is embarking on an exciting career in a traditionally male-dominated industry, and we are incredibly thankful to Core RST for partnering with Ai Group ATC to make this opportunity possible.
Poppy, who hails from Balnarring, brings a hands-on, adventurous spirit to her new role. She loves the outdoors and enjoys activities like 4WDing, camping, skating, and surfing. Her passion for working with her hands shines through in her hobbies, which include learning to service her own 4WD, reconditioning furniture, and fixing things around the house.
After graduating from Year 12, Poppy initially pursued a degree in nursing. However, she quickly realised that her true calling was in working with machinery and tools. With a diverse background that includes carpentry, hospitality, retail, and home maintenance, Poppy is excited to transition into the engineering field.
Ai Group ATC’s Employment Consultant Matt Muller will also be supporting Poppy through her journey as part of the crucial role Apprentice Employment services offer. Matt added “We are excited to see how Poppy thrives in this new role and look forward to sharing her success as she breaks new ground in the engineering industry!”
We highly encourage more women to consider apprenticeships in mechanical engineering and other trades. As Poppy’s journey shows, a passion for working with your hands, problem-solving, and taking on new challenges can open exciting doors in industries where women are still underrepresented. Now is the perfect time for women to explore these opportunities and bring their unique perspectives and skills to the field!
All the best with your apprenticeship Poppy!
