Meet Jesslyn Toomey: Blazing a Trail in Mechanical Engineering
Meet Jesslyn Toomey, a bright and ambitious young woman who is forging a path in the traditionally male-dominated field of mechanical engineering. Jesslyn has recently commenced her apprenticeship with Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre, partnering with the highly supportive Electrolux in Adelaide, South Australia.
Jesslyn’s passion for engineering was ignited early on. “I’ve always been fascinated by how things work, from the intricate mechanisms of a watch to the powerful engines of cars,” she shares. “In school, I excelled in math and physics, and I knew I wanted a career that would allow me to use my skills to create and build.” I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received so far from Ai Group ATC and Electrolux.”
Electrolux is a company that is committed to developing a diverse and inclusive workforce. They recognised Jesslyn’s talent and potential and were eager to welcome her onto their team. “We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of gender,” says Craig Fry, HR Manager at Electrolux. “We’re proud to support Jesslyn’s apprenticeship and hope that her story will inspire other young women to consider careers in STEM fields.”
Jesslyn is already making a positive impact at Electrolux. She is eager to share her knowledge and experience with others, particularly young women who may be interested in pursuing careers in engineering. “I want to show other girls that it’s okay to be different, to challenge stereotypes, and to go after your dreams,” says Jesslyn. “There’s a place for us in engineering, and we can achieve anything we set our minds to.”
Ai Group Apprentice And Trainee Centre is proud to be a part of Jesslyn’s journey. “We are thrilled to see Jesslyn thriving in her apprenticeship,” says Shawn Matthews Employment and Training Consultant at Ai Group ATC. “She is a shining example of the talent and potential that exists among young women in our community. We are confident that she will be a successful Mechanical Engineer and a role model for many years to come.”
Ai Group ATC and Electrolux are excited to be a part of Jesslyn’s journey and to support her as she reaches her full potential.
